Until 2014 wildlife throughout Kenya belonged to the government and only the Kenya Wildlife Service could manage it. The new Wildlife Conservation and Management Act devolves conservation to land owners. This may make future conservation management of wildlife in Lake Naivasha’s riparian zone more realistic as there are areas suffering from damage caused by too many buffalo.
