Local government

Local administration of activities such solid waste collection are now the responsibility of the Nakuru County Government, as a result of the political decentralisation that took place under the new Constitution.  Formally this was the municipal council of Naivasha. Despite the administrative reforms, waste collection and disposal, as well as water supply and sewerage collection remain a daunting task for the local administration. In large part, this seems to be due to underfunding and lack of basic facilities rather than to lack of committment by government employees and officials.

The Lake Basin's industries (mainly horticultural farms and geothermal plants) produce a handsome share of the country's wealth, yet relatively little seems to be reinvested in the Basin under the form of basic services for the local population.
